Happy (God)Father’s Day!
June 15th was the birthday of the Godfather of Gore himself–Hershall Gordon Lewis! I have always enjoyed myself a good HG Lewis picture, as have many horror fans. He is credited with creating the gore or splatter film–films that, at best, appeal to our morbid curiosities like celluloid Grand Guignols.
Lewis turned 83 this year and, to help me celebrate, I’ve invited author Andrew J. Rausch to help me discuss the career of Mr. Lewis. Rausch has just finished a book on Hershall Gordon Lewis entitled The Godfather of Gore Speaks: Hershall Gordon Lewis Discusses His Films. It should be out later this year or early next year, and I had such a great time talking with Andrew Rausch that I can’t wait to read the book.
You can check out his novel and other books by clicking on the covers here:
You can also pre-order his book Dirty Talk: Conversations with Porn Stars here!
Thanks again to Mike White of The Projection Booth for introducing me to Andrew! Check out his podcast today!
And remember, I am also on another podcast now! Hear me and Matthew Kelly of The Saint Mort Show discuss member-picked horror films on The Reddit Horror Club! We just discussed Dead and Buried and Cannibal Holocaust!
