#89 Sex and Violence with American Mary’s Tristan Risk

I know most of you have wanted a naughtier episode, and I’m giving you some of the goods tonight! Burlesque dancer extraordinaire Tristan Risk joins me to talk about her views on burlesque, the relationship between sex, violence, and horror, what really scares her, her experience in The Twisted Twins’s new horror film American Mary, and more! This was a fun episode, and I can’t wait for you to hear it!

Also, I am once again trying to get donations to help keep The Cultural Gutter’s website writing! Please consider donating just a dollar or five!

  1. Dude I’ve got a lot of catching up to do… Three episodes down today and far more knowledgeable about Creature lore! When are we going to hear a conversation on the daring homosexual subtext within the Phantasm series??

  2. Seriously! I hope you are enjoying the show again! It’s been keeping me crazy busy! That is an interesting topic of conversation!

  3. Planning on covering the series and this confusingly under-discussed topic in the coming month or so, would be very interested on your thoughts! Most consider the idea to be Freudian fluff, but I cannot watch the film without seeing it as an exploration and allegory of Michael’s budding homosexuality. Running through a dream with a giant phallic of a man throwing balls at him.
